Visiting Nepal : #SDG4 Quality Education

 English and Education Symposium
 : At Kathmandu, Nepal.

Date: 14th January 2019

Theme:
Teachers' Professional  Development
School Leaders Professional  Development

Venue: Hotel  Yak  & Yeti
Thanks to British Council for this great opportunity of considering me to be a part of the Indian Delegation for the English & Education Symposium held on 14th January 2019.
It is always an Honour to represent your Motherland.

An Experience to share:
At the Breakfast table we exchanged pleasantries. Dr Arifa Raham, from Bangladesh asked me,Where have you come from?
Punjab I said, smiling ear to ear.
Punjab , Which country? She said.
Surprised I said ,India.Which other country has Punjab? Of course India.
She said;"Pakistan". "Oh yes", I agreed.

During the conference I got an opportunity to sit next to Dr Khalid Mahmood who was from Punjab Pakistan.  Small world ..I thought.

Enjoyed:

Welcome Address:  Dr Jovan llic, Country Director, British Council Nepal.
Opening Remarks :His Excellency Richard Morris British Ambassador to Nepal
"Every child matter everywhere in the world" Loved this quote splashed  so very often on the screen...And so True it is!
Education is the Right of every child.
That is what #SDG4 is all about."Ensure inclusive and equitable quality Education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all".

The session I enjoyed the most was:
"School Leadership forTeachers' CPD by Chris Tweeddale's

What is your priority; Chris asked ? As a Head Teacher you should know your priority & Every Teacher should know the HeadTeacher's priority. Wonderful!

Panel Discussion:
Knowledge  transfer into the classroom: Expectation vs Reality
Ms Maya Menon, The Teacher Foundation, India talked about 4 W's &1H policy:
Why, What, When & Where,  & How
Dr Khalil Mahmood, Fame Education,Pakistan said,
My, Her, Our, Your need, whose need is professional  training?
My country is.....people
My need is not any professional Training
It is first " Need Analysis " The Trainer to be from the same school" he felt.

Always plenty to takeaway fom British Council's Symposiums, Core Skills trainings,  Leadership Training, Conferences etc.
Takeaway from this Symposium was: The Role of School Leaders  in developing the capacity of Teachers .Would put my learning into practice.

The last Session :Take aways from the Conference ....
5 people spoke
Put lots of ideas in our head.

"The success of the Symposium is not to give answers, but put questions in your head"; said one of the speaker.
And question we were carrying back in our head..

A Memorable Learning Experience!
